v2.0.2·Productivity

About Logseq

Logseq is a privacy-first, open-source knowledge management and collaboration platform released under the AGPL-3.0. Notes are written as an outline of blocks that can be folded, referenced and embedded, and bidirectional links connect pages into a personal knowledge graph.

The app opens on a daily journal page, supports Markdown and Org-mode files, and includes task management, queries and PDF annotation for highlighting and citing sources. A growing ecosystem of plugins and themes allows customization, and newer releases introduce database-based graphs, currently in beta. On Windows, official x64 and ARM64 installers are published on GitHub, making it a good fit for students, researchers and anyone who wants their notes to stay on their own machine.

How to install

“Windows protected your PC”

SmartScreen shows this for apps without a paid signature. Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”.

Antivirus blocks it

Open-source apps are often flagged because they aren’t commercially signed. Check the SHA256 first, then allow it in your antivirus.

Won’t start, or a DLL is missing

Usually a missing runtime. Install Microsoft’s Visual C++ Redistributable (x64) and the .NET Desktop Runtime, then try again.

Check the file

Run this in Command Prompt and compare the result with the SHA256 listed for the cloud file:

certutil -hashfile "%USERPROFILE%\Downloads\file-name" SHA256
