About QQ
QQ for Windows is the oldest and most widely used desktop client of Tencent's instant messenger, first released in 1999. In July 2023 Tencent opened the rebuilt Windows QQ to everyone: it now shares the QQNT architecture with the macOS and Linux versions, adds a 64-bit build and was optimized for lower memory usage. The official site also offers 32-bit and ARM installers.
On the desktop, QQ is handy for heavy messaging and file sharing. You can send files and images to friends and groups, make voice and video calls with live sharing, pick text out of images with built-in OCR, and use remote control to help someone fix their PC. QQ groups, Channels and QQ Zone are all available inside the client, and the interface follows the Windows light or dark theme. Core features are free, with optional paid memberships.

How to install

Antivirus blocks it
Open-source apps are often flagged because they aren’t commercially signed. Check the SHA256 first, then allow it in your antivirus.
Won’t start, or a DLL is missing
Usually a missing runtime. Install Microsoft’s Visual C++ Redistributable (x64) and the .NET Desktop Runtime, then try again.
Check the file
Run this in Command Prompt and compare the result with the SHA256 listed for the cloud file:
certutil -hashfile "%USERPROFILE%\Downloads\file-name" SHA256Alternatives
