RustDesk
About RustDesk
RustDesk is an open-source remote desktop application written in Rust and developed on GitHub under AGPL-3.0, positioned as an alternative to TeamViewer and AnyDesk. It works out of the box: the client shows your ID and a one-time password, and you connect to another device by entering its ID.
By default it uses RustDesk's public servers, but you can deploy your own RustDesk Server, open source or Pro, and point clients to it for full control of your data. On Windows the client can be installed, run as a temporary executable, deployed silently via MSI or used in portable mode. Settings cover hardware codecs, audio, recording, clipboard sync, permissions, password options and proxies. It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS, with a self-hostable web client.

How to install
“Windows protected your PC”
SmartScreen shows this for apps without a paid signature. Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”.
Antivirus blocks it
Open-source apps are often flagged because they aren’t commercially signed. Check the SHA256 first, then allow it in your antivirus.
Won’t start, or a DLL is missing
Usually a missing runtime. Install Microsoft’s Visual C++ Redistributable (x64) and the .NET Desktop Runtime, then try again.
Check the file
Run this in Command Prompt and compare the result with the SHA256 listed for the cloud file:
certutil -hashfile "%USERPROFILE%\Downloads\file-name" SHA256Alternatives
