About APPWL

By APPWL editorial team ·

When this site started

APPWL launched in November 2026. Before that, the appwl.com domain was held, parked or listed for sale by other parties. Nothing that appeared on the domain in those periods has any connection with this site, and we reuse none of that content or those links. If you see older content for this domain in a search engine or a web archive, it is not APPWL.

What APPWL does

APPWL collects the official, unmodified installers of popular free and open-source apps so you can find them, download them quickly and check them.

  • Every app page lists the current version, release date, file size, license and official homepage, taken from the official release page or repository. Fields we cannot confirm are left out.
  • Installer SHA256 checksums are matched against the hash the project publishes or the GitHub Release asset digest, and the page says which.
  • There are only two kinds of download: the official link, and a Quark Drive share holding the same official file. No modified, cracked or bundled installers.
  • Screenshots were taken by our editors while actually running the official installer. Where we could not take real screenshots, the page has none.

Details are on How we verify downloads.

Who maintains it

Content is maintained and checked by the APPWL editorial team; the "Edited by" line and the "Checked" date on app pages refer to this team. The "Checked" date only changes when the page content actually changes (for example a new upstream release, a new installer or new screenshots) — never just to look fresh.

Getting in touch

  • Broken download link: use "Link broken? Let us know" in the download section of the app page.
  • Missing app: use "Request an app" in the footer.
  • Copyright issues: use the takedown page.
  • Link exchange: the rules and how to apply are on our links page (in Chinese).

All software is the property of its authors. APPWL is not the official site of any app and does not represent any developer. See the disclaimer.

Request an app

The name is enough. The more people ask for an app, the sooner we add it.
