Obsidian
About Obsidian
Obsidian is a personal knowledge base and note-taking app built on plain-text Markdown files. Created by Shida Li and Erica Xu, it first appeared in beta in 2020 and quickly became popular for its local-first approach: notes are stored on your device rather than sent to Obsidian's servers.
Its standout features are links between notes and an interactive graph view, letting you build a personal wiki of ideas, people and projects. Canvas, tags, daily notes and thousands of community plugins and themes make it highly adaptable. The Android app brings your vault to your phone. Obsidian is free for personal and commercial use without an account, while Sync and Publish are optional paid services.

How to install
“Install unknown apps” is blocked
This is an Android security setting. Allow “Install unknown apps” only for the app you use to open the APK (such as your file manager), and turn it off again afterwards.
“There was a problem parsing the package”
The APK is usually incomplete, or your Android version is older than the app requires. Download it again and check the system requirements on this page.
It conflicts with an installed version
An APK signed differently cannot replace an app installed from an app store. Update it from the store, or back up and uninstall the old version first.
