LibreOffice is the free and open-source office suite from The Document Foundation. It bundles Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, Base and Math, covering documents, spreadsheets, presentations, diagrams, databases and formulas.
The Mac version requires macOS 11 or later and supports both Intel and Apple silicon processors. It opens and saves Microsoft Office formats such as DOCX, XLSX and PPTX, uses OpenDocument natively and exports PDF. Unlike the Windows version, the Mac build needs a separate language pack for a translated user interface. No account or subscription is required. It is a solid choice for students, freelancers and small teams who need to exchange Office documents with Windows users without paying for a subscription.

How to install
“App is damaged and can’t be opened”
Move the app into Applications, open Terminal, run this line, then open the app again:
xattr -cr "/Applications/LibreOffice.app"“Developer cannot be verified”
In Finder → Applications, Control-click the app, choose Open, then Open again. On macOS 15 or later: System Settings → Privacy & Security, then “Open Anyway” at the bottom.
Apple silicon or Intel?
Apple menu → About This Mac. If the chip says Apple M, pick the Apple silicon build; Universal works on both.
Check the file
Run this in Terminal and compare the result with the SHA256 listed for the cloud file:
