KeePassXC
About KeePassXC
KeePassXC is a free, open-source, cross-platform password manager released under the GPL and developed openly on GitHub. All your credentials, URLs, attachments and notes live in a local encrypted KDBX database unlocked by a master password, optionally combined with a key file or hardware key, with no cloud account required.
On Windows it is available for x64 and ARM64, as an installer or a portable ZIP, and through the Microsoft Store, winget and Chocolatey. Auto-Type fills credentials into any Windows program, and browser integration covers Chrome, Edge, Firefox and others, including passkeys. TOTP, YubiKey support, health reports, SSH Agent integration and a CLI are built in.

Antivirus blocks it
Open-source apps are often flagged because they aren’t commercially signed. Check the SHA256 first, then allow it in your antivirus.
Won’t start, or a DLL is missing
Usually a missing runtime. Install Microsoft’s Visual C++ Redistributable (x64) and the .NET Desktop Runtime, then try again.
Check the file
Run this in Command Prompt and compare the result with the SHA256 listed for the cloud file:
certutil -hashfile "%USERPROFILE%\Downloads\file-name" SHA256Alternatives
