About VSCodium
VSCodium is a community-driven project that builds Microsoft's open-source vscode repository into freely licensed binaries. The official VS Code downloads add Microsoft-specific configuration, branding, telemetry and a non-open license; VSCodium ships the same editor under the MIT license with a community default configuration instead.
On Windows it installs from the GitHub releases page or via winget, Chocolatey and Scoop, and feels exactly like VS Code. Extensions come from the open Open VSX registry, so a few Microsoft-licensed extensions that only work in official builds are unavailable. It runs on Windows 10 or later for x64 and arm64. Settings and shortcuts carry over from VS Code.

How to install

Won’t start, or a DLL is missing
Usually a missing runtime. Install Microsoft’s Visual C++ Redistributable (x64) and the .NET Desktop Runtime, then try again.
Check the file
