F-Droid
About F-Droid
F-Droid is a free and open-source app store and software repository for Android, similar in role to Google Play but hosting only free and open-source apps in its main repository. Founded by Ciaran Gultnieks in 2010, it is community-run, funded by donations and shows no ads.
No account is needed to download apps, and F-Droid says it does not track what you install. Apps are checked for security problems before they are added, and so-called anti-features such as advertising, tracking or dependence on non-free services are flagged in app descriptions. The client can add third-party repositories, and anyone can run their own repository with the open-source server tools.

How to install
“Install unknown apps” is blocked
This is an Android security setting. Allow “Install unknown apps” only for the app you use to open the APK (such as your file manager), and turn it off again afterwards.
“There was a problem parsing the package”
The APK is usually incomplete, or your Android version is older than the app requires. Download it again and check the system requirements on this page.
It conflicts with an installed version
An APK signed differently cannot replace an app installed from an app store. Update it from the store, or back up and uninstall the old version first.
