About Brave

Brave is an open-source browser from Brave Software, built on Chromium and published on GitHub under the MPL-2.0 license. It makes ad and tracker blocking the default, so Mac users get cleaner, faster pages without hunting for extensions.

Brave Shields block third-party ads, trackers, cookie banners and fingerprinting while upgrading connections to HTTPS. Private windows with Tor offer extra anonymity, most Chrome extensions are supported, and bookmarks and passwords can be imported from Safari or Chrome. Brave Search, the Leo AI assistant, optional Rewards, Brave Wallet and a paid VPN are available but can all be turned off. The browser itself is free and available in Simplified Chinese.

Key features

  • Ads, trackers and cookie pop-ups blocked by default
  • Fingerprinting protection and HTTPS upgrades
  • Private windows with Tor
  • Leo AI assistant
  • Most Chrome extensions supported
  • Optional Rewards and Brave Wallet
  • Open source on GitHub
