About OBS Studio

OBS Studio is free and open-source software from the OBS Project for recording and live streaming. You build scenes from sources such as screen and window captures, webcams, capture cards, images, text and browser pages, mix audio and video in real time, then record to disk or stream to popular services.

The macOS release supports macOS 13.0 and newer, with separate installers for Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. After granting screen recording, camera and microphone permissions, you get unlimited scenes and transitions, per-source audio filters like noise suppression and gain, VST plugin support, Studio Mode previews and a flexible dock-based layout.

How to install

“App is damaged and can’t be opened”

Move the app into Applications, open Terminal, run this line, then open the app again:

xattr -cr "/Applications/OBS Studio.app"

“Developer cannot be verified”

In Finder → Applications, Control-click the app, choose Open, then Open again. On macOS 15 or later: System Settings → Privacy & Security, then “Open Anyway” at the bottom.

Apple silicon or Intel?

Apple menu → About This Mac. If the chip says Apple M, pick the Apple silicon build; Universal works on both.

Check the file

Run this in Terminal and compare the result with the SHA256 listed for the cloud file:
