About Steam
Steam is Valve's digital distribution platform for PC games. Launched as a client in 2003 and opened to third-party titles in 2005, it was ported to macOS in 2010, letting Mac users buy and manage games on the same account as Windows and Linux players.
The Mac client works much like the Windows version: browse the store, keep a wishlist, buy games and install them from your library with automatic updates. Not every game has a macOS version, and store pages show which platforms are supported. Steam Cloud syncs saves for supported games, and Steam Chat, Game Hubs, Workshop mods, Family Sharing and controller support are all available. The client is free and supports Simplified Chinese.

How to install
“App is damaged and can’t be opened”
Move the app into Applications, open Terminal, run this line, then open the app again:
xattr -cr "/Applications/Steam.app"“Developer cannot be verified”
In Finder → Applications, Control-click the app, choose Open, then Open again. On macOS 15 or later: System Settings → Privacy & Security, then “Open Anyway” at the bottom.
Apple silicon or Intel?
Apple menu → About This Mac. If the chip says Apple M, pick the Apple silicon build; Universal works on both.
