About Telegram
Telegram offers two official apps on the Mac: the native Telegram for macOS and the cross-platform Telegram Desktop, which appears in the Mac App Store as Telegram Lite. The native client, open-sourced under GPLv2 on GitHub, follows macOS design conventions and supports platform features such as trackpad gesture navigation and integration with the system Share menu, so it feels at home next to Apple's own apps.
According to Telegram's FAQ, the native app matches the iOS feature set, including end-to-end encrypted Secret Chats, which the cross-platform desktop client lacks. Regular chats remain cloud-based and sync instantly with your phone and other computers, and the app handles large groups, channels, bots, calls and file sharing. It can be downloaded from macos.telegram.org or installed through the Mac App Store.

How to install
“App is damaged and can’t be opened”
Move the app into Applications, open Terminal, run this line, then open the app again:
xattr -cr "/Applications/Telegram.app"“Developer cannot be verified”
In Finder → Applications, Control-click the app, choose Open, then Open again. On macOS 15 or later: System Settings → Privacy & Security, then “Open Anyway” at the bottom.
Apple silicon or Intel?
Apple menu → About This Mac. If the chip says Apple M, pick the Apple silicon build; Universal works on both.
Check the file
Run this in Terminal and compare the result with the SHA256 listed for the cloud file:
