About Visual Studio Code
Visual Studio Code is Microsoft's free, cross-platform source-code editor, first released in 2015 and built on Electron and the MIT-licensed Code - OSS project. Extensions add language support, debugging, linting and remote development for almost any stack.
On macOS it is distributed as a .dmg in Universal, Apple silicon and Intel variants and requires macOS 12.0 or later. Drag it to Applications, then run the Shell Command: Install 'code' command in PATH action to open projects from Terminal. A Simplified Chinese language pack extension switches the interface to Chinese. It is free for personal and commercial use. Apple silicon Macs run it natively.

How to install
“App is damaged and can’t be opened”
Move the app into Applications, open Terminal, run this line, then open the app again:
xattr -cr "/Applications/Visual Studio Code.app"“Developer cannot be verified”
In Finder → Applications, Control-click the app, choose Open, then Open again. On macOS 15 or later: System Settings → Privacy & Security, then “Open Anyway” at the bottom.
Apple silicon or Intel?
Apple menu → About This Mac. If the chip says Apple M, pick the Apple silicon build; Universal works on both.
