About GIMP
GIMP, the GNU Image Manipulation Program, is a free and open-source raster graphics editor released under the GPL-3.0 and maintained by a volunteer team. It handles everyday image work such as photo retouching, cutouts, color correction, poster compositing and digital painting.
Its layer system supports masks, channels and a range of selection tools, while filters and brushes cover creative effects. GIMP is highly extensible, with scripting and plug-ins in languages such as C, C++, Python and Scheme. On Windows, the official installer supports x86_64 and ARM64 on Windows 10 version 1903 or later, and the app is also on the Microsoft Store. It is a popular no-cost alternative to commercial photo editors.
