About Bitwarden
Bitwarden for Mac is the desktop client of the open-source password manager. Logins, cards, identities and secure notes are encrypted locally before syncing, so the server only ever holds ciphertext. The desktop source code lives in the public bitwarden/clients repository.
The desktop app is the comfortable place to organize a large vault: folders, search, editing and the password generator all have more room than in a browser pop-up. Everything syncs with the browser extensions and the iOS and Android apps under the same account. The free plan already covers unlimited devices, and paid plans add premium, family and team features.

How to install
“App is damaged and can’t be opened”
Move the app into Applications, open Terminal, run this line, then open the app again:
xattr -cr "/Applications/Bitwarden.app"“Developer cannot be verified”
In Finder → Applications, Control-click the app, choose Open, then Open again. On macOS 15 or later: System Settings → Privacy & Security, then “Open Anyway” at the bottom.
Apple silicon or Intel?
Apple menu → About This Mac. If the chip says Apple M, pick the Apple silicon build; Universal works on both.
Check the file
Run this in Terminal and compare the result with the SHA256 listed for the cloud file:
