About Krita
Krita is an open-source painting program from the KDE community, backed by the Krita Foundation and licensed under GPLv3. The version on krita.org is free with no registration, subscription or trial limits, and it concentrates on drawing and painting: illustration, concept art, comics, game textures and frame-by-frame animation.
On macOS it offers a deep brush system with many presets and engines, stabilizers, perspective assistants, wrap-around mode for seamless patterns, SVG-compatible vector layers, light and dark themes and Python scripting. Krita does not run on iPad or iPhone. Mac users can install the free DMG or buy the Mac App Store edition, which is identical but updates automatically and funds development.

How to install
“App is damaged and can’t be opened”
Move the app into Applications, open Terminal, run this line, then open the app again:
xattr -cr "/Applications/Krita.app"“Developer cannot be verified”
In Finder → Applications, Control-click the app, choose Open, then Open again. On macOS 15 or later: System Settings → Privacy & Security, then “Open Anyway” at the bottom.
Apple silicon or Intel?
Apple menu → About This Mac. If the chip says Apple M, pick the Apple silicon build; Universal works on both.
