About Inkscape
Inkscape is a free and open-source vector graphics editor released under the GNU GPL and developed by a volunteer community since its 2003 fork from Sodipodi. Its native format is SVG, so artwork scales without loss, which makes it a popular free choice for logos, icons, illustrations, posters and scientific figures.
Earlier Mac releases suffered from GTK-related issues, but these were fixed from version 1.3 and the Mac download now offers separate Intel and arm64 builds. Inkscape provides shape, Bezier and calligraphy tools, gradients, layers, alignment and snapping, text on paths, bitmap tracing and clones, imports AI, CDR, VSD and PDF, exports PNG, PDF and EPS, and includes an XML editor, CLI and extensions.

How to install
“App is damaged and can’t be opened”
Move the app into Applications, open Terminal, run this line, then open the app again:
xattr -cr "/Applications/Inkscape.app"“Developer cannot be verified”
In Finder → Applications, Control-click the app, choose Open, then Open again. On macOS 15 or later: System Settings → Privacy & Security, then “Open Anyway” at the bottom.
Apple silicon or Intel?
Apple menu → About This Mac. If the chip says Apple M, pick the Apple silicon build; Universal works on both.
